The Standards Working Group is a collaborative forum where members come together to discuss electrotechnical standards and share best practice across the industry.


It brings together professionals working with a wide range of systems and installations covered by BS 7671 and other British Standards, creating a space for open technical discussion and knowledge sharing.


Members contribute their expertise and real-world experience, helping to address challenges, raise important issues, and improve understanding of compliance and safety.


Through this work, the group strengthens ECA’s technical voice, identifies emerging industry challenges, and supports members in delivering high-quality, standards-aligned design and installation

It includes representatives from organisations such as IET, Certsure, Electrical Safety First, and SELECT, and meets regularly throughout the year to encourage collaboration and learning.


Members contribute by raising technical and practical issues, sharing their experience, supporting safe and future-ready approaches, and helping to identify emerging skills and competency needs.



Through this work, the group strengthens ECA’s leadership in net-zero, builds strong relationships across the sector, and supports members in confidently adopting new and evolving technologies.
