JIB Pay Rate

ECA has completed a three-year agreement for JIB wages and conditions for 2026, 2027 and 2028 

Details of the changes under the JIB agreement, effective from Monday 5th January 2026 are available to view here.

The main changes introduced in the two year settlement are;

Year 1 – from 5 January 2026

  • 3.95% increase to rates for graded operatives
  • 0% increase to apprentice rates

Year 2 – from 4 January 2027

  • 4.6% increase to rates for graded operatives
  • 2% increase to apprentice rates

Year 3 – from 3 January 2028

  • 4.85% increase to rates for graded operatives
  • 3% increase to apprentice rates

£10 increase to weekly sick pay for all grades during weeks 3 to 24 – therefore providing:

  • £220 per week for a Technician £210 per week for an Approved Electrician
  •  £200 per week for an Electrician
  •  £190 per week for others as defined in clause 1.3 note(a) of Section 9 of the JIB Handbook

£5 increase to weekly sick pay for all grades (as above) during weeks 25 to 52.

Lodging Allowance Rates 2025

from 6 January 2025:

Lodging Allowance  -  £51.29 per night

Retention Payment   -  up to a maximum of £16.87 per night (£118.09 per week)

Weekend Retention  -  £51.29 per night.

This represents a 4.1% increase on in last year’s figures.

Mileage allowance remains 22p

Lodging Allowances 2022

HMRC have confirmed the Lodging Allowance rates, as tax free payments, from 3 January 2022 will increase by 0.9% to the following:

  • Lodging Allowance will increase to £42.66 per night.
  • Annual Holiday Retention payments to increase to a maximum of £14.04 per night (£98.28 per week); and
  • Weekend Retention payment to increase to £42.66 per night

HMRC have also confirmed the Mileage Allowance payable under the National Working Rules can continue to be paid tax free.

Current Mileage Allowance remains at 22p per mile over 15 Miles each way. Current Mileage Rate remains at 12p per mile over 15 Miles each way.
